In this stunning new documentary short film, Mr. Teachbad discusses whether or not he is a visionary, his formal musical training, and the making of “Rhee Came Down the Mountain” with rehearsal outtakes.
Hilarious! Thank you for brightening this harassed teacher’s day!
Der MTB: We all want you to represent the downtrodden teachers. Please remember that everything you post will follow you around forever.
NOT FAKE Education news. From today’s Huff Post:
I love everything you write esp. about Rhee but you are wrong about the guitar and lessons. Lessons help but they will not make you a guitar player. The “homework” is more important. You must constantly play on your own to build up muscle memory, your feel and tone and your ear. I learned with three years of lessons total and and 40 years of playing along to records, noodling on the couch, picking out tv show themes, bands, church. I learn new pieces by watching player’s hands , and closing my eyes to build up muscle memory and automaticity in my hands. The guitar teacher shows the framework but the desire and motivation must ultimately come from the student.
